What is a CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) has become a popular way for consumers to buy local, seasonal food directly from a farmer. Here are the basics: a farmer offers a certain number of "shares" to the public. Typically the share consists of a box of vegetables, or other farm produce..In our case lettuces! Interested consumers purchase a share (aka a "membership" or a "subscription") and in return receive a box (bag, basket) of seasonal produce each week throughout the farming season.
But…we think ours is just a little different.
Since we can grow year round we are offering our CSA during those cold winter months when a fresh straight from the farm head of lettuce is impossible to get in the grocery store.
Each week you will receive an e-mail newsletter telling you what you will be getting and in some cases how to use it. Visits to the farm are encouraged and when available, extra heads of lettuce can be purchased.
Right now our CSA members are getting Butter Bibb, Spring Mix, Romaine, Curly Greenleaf, Red Leaf, Red Butter head and Wild Arugula. This is a typical weeks selection but as the season progresses they will be getting Mizuna, Frisee, Red Romaine and a variety of fruits & vegetables among other things.
Sign-ups for the season have begun. Please contact us to get involved!!
